How to Obtain a Florida Medical Marijuana Card

How to Obtain a Florida Medical Marijuana Card

Floridians who are seeking medical marijuana treatment with a qualified medical condition can obtain a Medical Marijuana Card (MMJ card). Florida permits permanent or seasonal residents to access the MMJ program. The following steps will show you how to get a medical marijuana card in Florida. The card is your key to a legal and sustainable supply of highly-efficacious cannabis.

Step 1: Schedule an Appointment with A Qualified Medical Marijuana Doctor

Obtaining your medical records and receiving a signed physician's statement from a doctor are the initial steps in getting a Florida medical marijuana card. Only a licensed doctor who is on the state's Medical Marijuana Use Registry is allowed to grant you the permission to use medical cannabis for your condition.  A current list of Florida medical marijuana doctors may be found on the Florida Department of Health's website. On the OMMU page, there is also a list of qualified physicians.

In Florida, only citizens are allowed to obtain a medical marijuana card. You'll have to show proof of residency. A Florida driver's license, a passport, or another kind of photo identification are examples.

Step 2: Attend Your MMJ Doctor Consultation

Your doctor will do a physical examination and ask you a few questions during the session. The idea is to figure out if you're a good MMJ candidate. You can proceed if the doctor believes you and diagnoses you with a qualifying condition. Your name and information will be entered into the Florida Marijuana Use Registry by the physician (aka the Compassionate Care Registry).

It is overseen by the state's Department of Health. You won't be able to apply for your Florida MMJ card until you've been accepted into the Registry.

t  Your doctor can apply for you, or you can apply yourself.

t  You can only be added to the Compassionate Use Registry by your doctor.

Step 3: Complete the Application's Requirements and Submit It Online

You can submit a completed form to the Office of Medical Marijuana Use once you've entered the Registry. The DOH will ask you to reapply with the correct papers if your paperwork isn't in order. If your application is approved, you will receive an email notification. Until you receive your ID card, you can place a temporary order from a licensed MMJ dispensary using the approval email.

Step 4: Renewal of your MMJ card

Your medicinal marijuana card registration is not indefinite. Because a certification period is only valid for 210 days, you must return to our office for a face-to face evaluation every 210 days to keep your marijuana listing alive. You'll also see that your marijuana card has a 12-month validity period and an expiration date. Examine the date on which you received your card and set a calendar reminder for 30-60 days before your card expires to plan an appointment with us. You won't have a medication lapse this way. When you renew your registration, you must pay the $75 state charge as well as our fees. This will ensure that you continue to receive the benefits of your medication
